Stretch Mark Cream

Just thought of something tonight....

1) What kind of anti-stretch mark creams do you all recommend?  [HOLY CRAP - EERIE...as I typed that I happened to look up at the TV in the background and see that a Mederma commercial was playing. A sign??  BTW... I notice that when bloggers type out name brands of things they put random periods in the word like 'Med.erma'... am I supposed to do this? Whats the point?]

2) When am I supposed to start applying said anti-stretch mark creams?

THANKS all!

  1. I think it's to avoid people finding your blog when the search for that brand. I don't do it because I am not searchable.

I have been told that the creams don't work. But I do think it's important to keep your skin hydrated. Maybe this is something you can ask your OB (how to prevent stretch marks).

  2. Jen is right; stretch marks is purely sheer luck and genetic. If you have a great gene for elastic skin then thank your lucky stars! If you don't then ah....gotta live with tiger stripes! :)

However, it is always great to keep yourself hydrated--drink a lot of water, eat fresh produces that have water content in them...why? Because water actually helps your skin keep healthy and able to stretch neatly without jagged lines.

I use Coca Palmer lotion--I know a lot of people have nothing but so-so things to say about it, but it does work pretty well for me.
And it is cheaper than Mederma lotion.

  3. Hi there! I have a lot to say about this, and I put most of it in this post:

I agree with Jen and Ashley, but it's not stopping me from trying. I'm using vitamin-E infused almond oil and Urban Skintrition Stretch Mark Cream. Since I think creams have a minimal effect, whether I get stretch marks or not I won't be able to confidently say that this combination did or didn't work, but I'll share anyway!

  5. We swear by Bio-oil, it has kept Ash's belly stretch mark free through all her pregnancies and she is stretch mark prone, has them on her hips, butt and legs maybe we should have lubed her up all over with the stuff!

  7. I love bio oil too. Also, slow steady weight gain will help prevent stretch marks too. If you gain weight quickly you are more susceptible to them.
